COPPA POLICY

COPPA-COMPLIANT MINOR DATA ADDENDUM

STEM+X, LLC DBA NeuroBloom Learning Lab (“NBLL,” “we,” “our,” or “us”), a division of STEM+X, LLC, is committed to protecting the privacy and safety of children under the age of 13 in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). This addendum supplements our Privacy Policy and outlines additional measures for the collection, use, and protection of personal information from minors.

1. Scope

This addendum applies to:

  • All students under the age of 13

  • Parents or legal guardians providing consent on behalf of their children

  • All online platforms, applications, and digital tools operated, maintained, or accessed by NBLL for instructional or administrative purposes

2. Parental Consent

Before collecting, using, or sharing personal information from children under 13:

  • NBLL obtains verifiable parental or legal guardian consent

  • Parents are provided with clear notice of what data is collected, how it will be used, and with whom it may be shared

  • Consent may be withdrawn at any time by contacting NBLL

3. Data Collection and Use

Personal information collected from minors may include:

  • Name, date of birth, and contact information

  • Academic records, assessments, and progress reports

  • Attendance, behavior, and special education documentation

  • Login credentials for digital learning platforms

NBLL uses this information only for educational purposes, including:

  • Instructional support and personalized learning

  • Academic progress monitoring and reporting

  • Safety and security monitoring

  • Communication with parents or guardians

  • Compliance with legal and regulatory obligations

NBLL does not sell, trade, or share personal information of minors for commercial purposes.

4. Data Retention

Information collected from minors is retained only as long as necessary for educational purposes or as required by law. Once records are no longer required, data is securely destroyed or anonymized.

5. Security Measures

NBLL implements administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect minor data, including:

  • Encrypted storage and transmission of sensitive information

  • Restricted access for authorized personnel only

  • Monitoring and auditing of data access and usage

  • Regular staff training on privacy and data security

Despite these measures, NBLL and STEM+X, LLC cannot guarantee complete protection from unauthorized access; parents acknowledge inherent risks associated with online data.

6. Third-Party Providers

NBLL may use third-party digital tools and platforms to support learning. All providers are required to:

  • Comply with COPPA and applicable privacy laws

  • Limit collection of minor data to what is necessary for educational purposes

  • Implement reasonable data protection measures

NBLL is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services beyond these contractual obligations.

7. Parent Rights

Parents or legal guardians may:

  • Review their child’s personal information collected by NBLL

  • Request correction of inaccurate information

  • Withdraw consent for collection or use of personal data at any time

  • Request deletion of their child’s data where legally permissible

8. Compliance and Updates

NBLL reserves the right to update this COPPA Addendum to reflect changes in technology, law, or educational practice. Parents will be notified of significant changes, and continued use of NBLL digital services constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
